Cathryn Folk had an amazing day job shadowing teachers and the principal at Reuben Elementary School. She was able to see the inner workings of several classrooms. She got a firsthand look at how teachers create an engaging learning environment and make a lasting impact on students. From lesson planning to fostering creativity, it's clear that teaching is not just a job—it's a passion. Thanks to everyone who made this opportunity possible!

Mark your calendars for the upcoming District Art Show!

We are so proud of Victoria Rich and her placement in the Region 6 Junior Band! Victoria auditioned against all middle school level clarinetists in Region 6 to earn the 14th chair spot in the band. This also earned her an All-State callback! Great job Victoria!

8th Grader Essence Lynch was able to job shadow at the Post Office. She was able to case mail, package mail, and deliver mail. She learned that people have a lot of responsibilities at the post office: remembering everyone's mail, patience, multi-tasking, and working at a fast pace.

Eighth grade students at Mid-Carolina Middle School had the opportunity to experience Be Pro, Be Proud SC, a mobile unit designed to inspire and equip the next generation for high-demand careers in skilled trades. From welding and construction to healthcare and IT, the mobile simulator showed students the real power of hands-on, high-paying careers in the skilled trades.

Our athletic ceremony will be held on February the 27th at 6pm and will be held in the big gym. Sports will include volleyball, football, and boys/girls basketball. GO REBELS!

MCMS was selected to participate in the 2024-25 School Garden and Education Assistance Program! Thanks to Mrs. Amanda Metts for spearheading this grant opportunity.

Our Valentine's Dance was a huge success! Thank you to all the students who came out, danced the night away, and made it a night to remember. A big shoutout to the awesome staff and the PTO volunteers for making the night special. We loved seeing everyone having fun and making memories with friends.

On Friday, MCMS students had an opportunity to attend an assembly hosted by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Ending the Silence is an engaging presentation that helps middle and high school aged youth learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps to take if you or a loved one are showing symptoms of a mental health condition.

CONGRATULATIONS, REBELS! OFF TO THE SEMIFINALS!

The stakes are high—the winner moves on to the conference championship! Let’s show up big and bring that Rebel spirit on the road. Grab a biscuit or some delicious doughnuts from Laila’s Place, then head to the game and cheer on our team!
Let’s pack the stands and push our Rebels to victory!
GO REBELS!

8th graders Elon and Jackson Sease were able to job shadow with Eric Eargle, owner of Mid-Carolina Machine. They watched him weld and helped with automotive repairs to company vehicles. They now understand how much skill, precision, and hard work goes into welding!

February iReady Goals

Throughout the month of February, our 8th grade students will have the opportunity to job shadow a career of their choice. Today a group of 8th graders (Thomas Boozer, Hayden Hamilton, Claire Traylor, Kole Varn, and Brendan Wicker) from MCMS travelled to McEntire Joint National Guard Base to job shadow Master Seargeant David Caldwell. The students got a tour of the base, including the flight line, a tour of the static jets, and an inside tour of the Air Traffic Control tower. The students were also able to view the airport from the catwalk of the control tower, as well as watch incoming and outgoing aircraft. The students learned about how the SC Air National Guard works, as well as how Air Traffic Control operations work. We look forward to seeing other exciting job shadowing experiences this month.
